We made all the icons black and white, reduced number of apps that could show badges, turned off app names/text, turned off most notifications, and generally made it less useful/usable and convenient. This also had the unintended but great effect of making the phone more peaceful and calm when we did use it. We do have an Apple Watch too, but we kept the notification settings the same as the phone (fewer notifications everywhere). And boy do we have more time and focus on our hands. And we don’t miss critical things despite the fear that we would.
